Skinvisible Granted Patent on Polymer-Based Delivery System
LAS VEGAS, Jun 24, 2003 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) --
Skinvisible, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SKVI)/( Website: www.skinvisible.com ) announced that it's wholly owned subsidiary Skinvisible Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has received a Patent for a dermal barrier composition that incorporates its topical delivery system technology containing hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymer emulsions. Skinvisible applied for this patent in January 2000, citing the composition's ability to hold skin care agents at targeted levels on the skin, demonstrate enhanced duration of action when combined with active ingredients, and a methodology for providing and maintaining a protective layer for the skin.
Skinvisible also filed a second patent application in August 2001, which is significantly more extensive. The subsequent application covers a variety of topical polymer-based delivery system compositions along with methodologies for manufacturing and using them. To date the Company has developed sixteen such distinct polymer delivery systems under its trademarked 'Invisicare' name. These compositions were developed to deliver a broad range of natural and synthetic pharmaceutical and skincare active ingredients and hold such agents in close proximity to the skin for extended periods.
When topically applied, products incorporating 'Invisicare'adhere to the skin's outer layers forming a protective bond that resists both wash-off and perspiration, while delivering targeted levels of active ingredients to the skin. Utilizing its technologies, the Company has developed and tested antibacterial/antimicrobial hand sanitizers, skincare moisturizers, sunscreens, sunless tanners, acne, psoriasis, eczema and other topical OTC formulations.
Headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, Skinvisible Inc., through its wholly owned subsidiary Skinvisible Pharmaceuticals, Inc., develops topical polymer- based delivery systems and technologies. Aligned with its research and development focus, Skinvisible's primary marketing objectives are to license its technologies and/or sell its polymer delivery systems to established brand manufacturers and providers of topical prescription, OTC, cosmetic and skincare products.
