LAS VEGAS, Mar 30, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ --
Skinvisible, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SKVI) (Website: www.skinvisible.com) announced today that Dermal Defense, Inc. (www.dermaldefense.com) a Preferred Account has signed a 'Letter of Intent'(LOI) to acquire the exclusive marketing and distribution rights to its patented Antimicrobial Hand Sanitizer product for North America.
Terms of the LOI require Dermal Defense to pay a fee of $1 million comprising of a non-refundable deposit of $250,000 with the balance of $750,000 payable as to $75,000 per calendar quarter or 5% of product sales (whichever is greater) until the entire $750,000 is received. The deposit of $250,000 has been received by Skinvisible. In addition and further to the payment fee of $1 million Dermal Defense agrees to pay a royalty fee of 5% on product sales of the Antimicrobial Hand Sanitizer.
Mr. James Graves, President of Dermal Defense, Inc. states that 'since the successful introduction of the Hand Sanitizer with our distributor Galls, Inc. (see press releases of Oct 7/03 &Dec 17/03) it became apparent that we had to have the exclusive rights to this product.'Galls, Inc. (www.galls.com) is the largest distributor of public safety equipment in the United States selling products to law enforcement, fire, rescue and EMS as well as the military. Dermal Defense is their first product to be offered in the fight to 'Stop the Spread of Infection'through hand contact. In addition, Dermal Defense has commenced a new packaging design for product sales, which will commence this fall through retail stores.
Independent studies indicate that the Dermal Defense formulation offers significant advantages over alcohol-based sanitizers marketed to kill bacteria and viruses on the hands. The Dermal Defense formulation offers continuous protection, long-term kill of up to 4 hours per application, undiminished by hand washing or perspiration. In comparison, the alcohol gels provide instant protection but offer no long-term persistence.
'This Agreement allows us the opportunity to stay focused on the research and development of new polymer technologies and formulations while providing a steady stream of revenue from product sales and royalties,'says Mr. Terry Howlett, Skinvisible's President. 'It makes the most sense for us to gain product exposure through a company which understands marketing.'
